Introverted Intuition

An Ongoing Series

A counterpoint to my Extroverted Intuition series, this collection begins in the same way - with my own single “source” photograph. But instead of exploring the infinite possibilities of one image, this series seeks to find the deepest essence of the source image. I deconstruct my photograph, reducing it down to limited fields of color. This process of extraction strips away visual details in order to get at the essence of an image. The result is abstracted minimalist fields of flat color.

Introverted Intuition is a cognitive process from Carl Jung’s theory of psychological types and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. It is interested, in part, in extracting the essence of a thing in order to find deep truths or singular symbolic meaning.

This series is the result of my own search for greater self-understanding leading to research into Jungian psychology and Myers-Briggs personality typology.
