SOCIALLY DISTANT coping with isolation, a personal project

What does it feel like to be isolated? It’s surreal, dreamlike, odd. It’s like being inside an empty office building, wandering the white wall corridors, looking out at the world beyond the windows. Sometimes it feels like I’m inside a submarine as it submerges, watching the water levels rise. This is a color study created to express how this period of social distancing has felt to me. I wanted to create a series from my home and I ended up displaying it as a gallery on my walls. The images are collections of digital prints affixed to white typing paper. I used materials I had - postits, card stock and blutack because that’s what I had in this time of a pandemic. In some ways this time took a lot of pressure off. And, with galleries closed, I learned, given enough time and space, it’s possible to make my own art exhibit.
