In an age in which increased human sensibility has become such an obvious need in all areas of human involvement, color sensitivity and awareness can constitute a major weapon against forces of insensitivity and brutalization.
— Interaction of Color by Josef Albers

4/10/25 - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Open Gallery is pleased to present I Project What I Reflect, a solo exhibition by Nashville artist Amanda Lomax, on view May 3-25, with opening reception May 3, 2025 during the Wedgwood Houston Art Crawl from 5-9pm. Visually exploring the psychological process of projection, Lomax’s multi-modal abstract sculptures invite the viewer to consider their own projections through obscured mirrored reflections and abstract painted compositions. Made popular by psychoanalyst Carl Jung, projection is an unconscious process. The works in this exhibition make that unconscious process, visible. In doing so, I Project What I Reflect examines the vital human need to make meaning out of an abstract world.
